How does Kmart's layaway work?

Kmarts layaway  policies are pretty straight forward. To put items on Layaway You will need to put 10% down and then make payments of a minimum of 10% each month untill the item is paid off. The usual amount of each payment is 25% of the total cost of the layaway but the minimum payment accepted is actually 10%. You will be able to work out an extension on the layaway time if you need to by calling the store and discussing it with the customer service representative.
